Short song made for the 2023 "Boss Fight on Halloween Night" Spooky Tune Jam. It was a lot of work, and it still could use a lot more! I think I spent around 15 hours of work making this in Ableton over the span of two weeks. I found a couple new instruments, which I'm excited to use in future projects. Also, I had a lot of fun putting in some Halloweeny sounds in, so I hope you like them too!

Let me know what you think about this song, and after you do that, go on and check out all the cool spooky submissions at the Spooky Tune Jam 2023 submissions page!

All constructive criticism welcome and appreciated.

Below is a screenshot of my ableton tracks if you want to check that out.

I think this turned out better than I was hoping with how busy I've been.

I would say my favorite parts of the song are going to be the instruments I used as well as the more subtle sound effects I paired them with.

One big criticism I would have with my song right now, is that the parts feel a bit sporadic. They don't all naturally flow into eachother. I tried to fix that with fills, but it was really a patchwork job. One thing I noticed is that I really like how the chill break sounds, so it might be worth looking into why I like that part and applying that to the rest of the song without making it all the same.

Finally, one thing I succeeded in I think was making it sound "chaotic" which was my biggest goal for this. I don't really have much of a music background, so I was glad that I was able to get an effect I wanted despite not being super knowledgable.

Thanks for listening!

Wow, nice job ! I totally get the "boss battle" energy here. The melodies are great and just chaotic enought, the sounds are great :)

Thank you very much! I am getting the vibe that I nailed the theme for this, which is awesome. 🥳

I totally get the "chaotic" sound you were going for! I really like that you've done it in a way that isn't overwhelming, but almost motivating the listener. I see what you mean about some of the parts being a bit sporadic, so I wonder if more small transitions might help bring them together more. My favourite parts are when the crows come in with the slower, reflective kind of chords in between the chaos. Great work!!

Thank you very much! The motivating comment is very interesting, I hadn't really considered that before to be honest. And thank you for the suggestions for the transitions, I'll try to see what I can do to make them fit better. I'm very glad you enjoy the crows, they seem to be very popular which is very encouraging.
